Fortnite Season 4 is almost here with the release date, Battle Pass announcement and likely a serious amount of server downtime coming later this week.
What we do know, is that Fortnite Season 3 is scheduled to end Monday 30th April, that is, assuming Epic Games don't extend it by a day or two like they did with Season 3.
The most likely scenario for the week ahead is that Season 3 will end on Monday, with the Season 4 Battle Pass announced the following day on Tuesday.
Wednesday will likely be when Epic Games take Fortnite offline to update to the latest patch, as they have done in past weeks.
Thursday could then see the release of the games first Season 4 week 1 challenges.
The only question remaining is when players will get to see the big event Epic have been planning around the impending Meteor strike, or how it ties into the superhero theme the official Fortnite Twitter account has been teasing these last few days.
Epic officially started revealing the Superhero theme at the end of last week with a new poster, which, over the course of a few days, has revealed more and more characters.
So far players have seen two male and two female superhero (or villain) characters revealed on Twitter, along with the tagline 'Brace for impact' on the official website.
It suggests the meteor strike might have something to do with these new characters and each poster also came with their own slogans, which read:
1. "Battle. Adapt. Win."
2. "Fight with Honor"
3. "Check every corner, box, and bush"
4. "Leave your mark."
For weeks it's been believed that this meteor strike would be hitting Tilted Towers, but some recent info (via Fortnite Intel) has suggested it might actually strike dusty depot.
But equally, it's possible that some of the first Fortnite Season 4 skins and cosmetics have been found
Following the most recent Fortnite update last week, dataminers have been looking into the new files for clues about potential changes to the game.
One of the most interesting discoveries from Mr Proper (via PCGames N) shows a number of new features, skins, skydiving trails and more which have been located in the files and uploaded to Imgur as evidence.
There are no pictures of these new features, which would suggest its something still in the pipeline and likely to arrive with the start of the Season 4 Battle Pass launch.
"The new skins include Pajama Party, Taxi, Red Shirt, Pizza, Fish Head, and more," writes PC Games N.
"There are new skydiving trail effects coming, including the vital toilet paper trail which the entire community will probably be using once they get their hands on it."
Out of everything though, the most interesting new addition is that of a sentry turret trap. Currently, this is used in Fortnite: Save the World and we would imagine, being so overpowered, that if it comes to Battle Royale it will need nerfing significantly.
However, it is interesting to see it there in the first place and could add some intriguing new gameplay moments once it arrives.
