The Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour with her third child and was admitted to hospital with the Duke by her side this morning.
Kate Middleton was driven from Kensington Palace to the private Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington, before rush-hour traffic hit the city.
The 36-year-old is in the "early stages of labour" at the exclusive maternity unit where she previously welcomed son George, four, and two-year-old daughter Charlotte.
Die-hard fans of the Royal Family are beginning to gather outside the hospital in the hope of catching a glimpse of newborn Baby Cambridge.
Uncle Prince Harry, who marries US former actress Meghan Markle next month, will fall to sixth on the list.
With George, the Duchess gave birth 10-and-a-half hours after being admitted to hospital, but Charlotte was born just two hours and 34 minutes after Kate arrived at the Lindo Wing.
It could be a speedy arrival for the soon-to-be family-of-five and if Kate gives birth by the end of the day - as is expected - the royal baby will be born on patriotic St George's Day.
The royal baby would also share their birthday with Lady Gabriella Windsor - the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who was born at the Lindo Wing, where Kate is in labour, on April 23 in 1981.
Famous names celebrating their birthdays today include the model Gigi Hadid and actor John Hannah.
The baby has just missed arriving on the Queen's 92nd birthday which was on Saturday.
William and Kate are set to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary on April 29, while Princess Charlotte turns three on May 2.
"The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."
Mary, Alice, and Victoria are among the favourite names with bookmakers if the baby is a girl with Albert, Arthur, and Fred, the favourites for a boy.
The baby's title will be HRH Prince or Princess of Cambridge.
